With an educational background in social work research and experience with the use of mixed methodologies, Jaehee Yi (Social Work) has built a research career in psychosocial oncology, with a focus on trauma, for which she examines the positive and negative impacts of cancer on individuals and families. Dr. Yi has been a PI or Co-PI on 13 research projects that were funded by universities and/or community agencies. Based on the research findings she has developed the ability to effectively use art, particularly photographic images and storytelling techniques, in research that has explored the experiences of diverse traumatized populations. She developed a theoretical and empirical foundation for the Photo Storytelling intervention.
